It is with profound sadness that the family and friends of Cole Robert Arno, 21, of Schodack, New York, announce his sudden passing following a tragic car accident on Sunday, May 25, 2025. Cole passed away at Albany Medical Center, surrounded by loved ones who cherished him deeply.
Born in Albany, New York, Cole was the beloved son of Jeffrey Arno and Tracy (McDowell) D’Amico. From the very beginning, Cole was a light in the lives of everyone around him. His joyful personality, quick wit, and genuine kindness left an impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A Cheerful Soul with a Heart of Gold
Cole’s life, although tragically cut short, was one filled with laughter, love, and unforgettable memories. He was known for being cheerful, happy-go-lucky, and always ready with a playful prank to lighten the mood. Those who knew him will fondly remember his entertaining Dutch accent impressions and spontaneous “windmill” dances that could bring a smile to anyone’s face.
A true animal lover, Cole had a deep compassion for all living creatures. Whether it was a turtle, fish, bird, or furry friend, Cole had a special connection with animals. He even chose Saint Francis of Assisi, the Patron Saint of Animals, as his confirmation name—a touching tribute to his nurturing spirit. His faithful four-legged companion, Archie, was more than a pet to him; Archie was a best friend and source of comfort.
A Devoted Partner and Loving Family Member
Perhaps one of the most touching aspects of Cole’s life was his enduring relationship with Brooke Romano, his high school sweetheart. The two were often described as the “best young old couple” and had a deep, soulful bond that many admired. Brooke was not just Cole’s girlfriend; she was truly his forever person—the one he had envisioned building a future with.
Cole shared a close and unique relationship with each of his siblings. He looked up to his big brother Bryce Arno, cherishing every moment of “playing cars” together. When it came to homework, there was no one he trusted more than his sister Kylee Arno, whose guidance he always sought. And his love for Meeghan Arno was evident in his constant question, “Can I sleep over Meeghan’s?”—a phrase that captured his sweet nature and desire to be near those he loved.
His step-sisters, Rebecca (Peter) D’Amico, Katherine (Brian) Sitcer, and Katherine (Scott) D’Amico, were also part of his extended family, and he shared meaningful connections with each of them. He was also adored by his Gram, many aunts, uncles, cousins, and a large network of friends who were like family.
A Bright Future and Passionate Life
Cole graduated from the Schodack Central School District in 2022, where he was a proud and active member of the Maple Hill Cross Country team. His teammates and coaches remember him as someone who brought energy, positivity, and a strong sense of camaraderie to every race and practice.
After high school, Cole began working at Thruway Beverage, where he quickly earned the respect of his colleagues through his strong work ethic and friendly personality. He enjoyed his job and found satisfaction in being part of a team—a theme that seemed to follow him in all areas of his life.
